Welcome to Anita, Iowa

Located in the beautiful rolling hills of southwest Iowa, Anita is 3 miles south of Interstate 80, exit number 70. At the crossroads of Hwy 148 and 83, we are just an hour drive from either Omaha or Des Moines. Platted 1869 and incorporated in 1875, Anita has always been a great community, the people are committed to our community and to our quality of life. Anita lives up to its motto, we are a "whale of a town"!
We have a great public library, community center, and health and wellness center. There are three lovely city parks that includes playground equipment and picnic shelters. We have recreational trails that connects the city to Lake Anita State Park. Crestwood Hills Golf Course is an 18 hole public golf course that is situated along Lake Anita State Park.
We have many events that are family orientated. The American Legion hosts Bingo every Saturday night at the American Legion Hall. Downtown offers a Farmer's Market every Tuesday evening from spring through fall. Lake Anita State Park hosts Saturday night movies through the summer as well as other events throughout the year.
