| The Crestwood Hills Golf Course is a beautiful 18 hole, 7,895 yard, par 71 course. Crestwood Hills is a private stock holding course that is open to the public. The course is open from April 1st to November 1st, 7am to 9pm (or dark). Located along the southern boundary of the city limits of Anita, it is bordered on north side by Turkey Creek and the Anita Municipal Airport, and Lake Anita State Park to the south. Lake Anita State Park has lovely campgrounds and many of the people who camp there bring their clubs and enjoy a round or two. The course is family friendly and fun to play, with water hazards and play into timber.

| The course was a labor of love for many, as the entire project, both the original 9 and the new 9, were done completely with volunteer labor. People from Anita and the surrounding communities of Adair, Atlantic, Cumberland, Massena and Wiota (just to name a few) pitched in with donations of money, use of heavy equipment, and untold hours of their time.
The original 9 hole, 3,065 yard, par 36 course was laid out in 1965 by Ken Turner with each green design based on the famous greens of major golf courses. In the early 1990s a group from Anita and the surrounding communities formed Backnine, Inc., their goal was to add the 9 new holes. Design was a joint effort by this group, with help and input from many. In 1993 the golf course joined in the project and work on the new 9 got underway. The new 9 was completed in 1995 and the end result is a great course that is a source of pride for the area. The course is beautifully maintained, and thoughts of improvement are always ongoing; in the year 2003 over 50 large trees were transplanted. The course also has a Tree Memorial program to have a tree planted in memory of a loved one. Contact the course manager for more information on this program. | |
