| Easter Egg Hunt Saturday April 7, 2007 @ 10:00 a.m. An annual event held the Saturday before Easter, co-sponsored by the Anita Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Literary Club. This year we are going for the title - the Largest Easter Egg Hunt in southwest Iowa! Held rain or shine at The Colonial Manor in Anita. There will be lots of eggs, prizes, candy and fun! Groups are divided by ages to ensure eggs for all. |

| The 80th Annual Anita High School Alumni Banquet Saturday, May 26, 2007 6:30pm at CAM High School. Rooms at the high school may be requested in advance for class reunions to have a place to visit; just let one of the board members know, rooms become available at 5:45pm. Doors open at 5:45pm and serving starts at 6:30pm in the High School gym, with a short program following the dinner. The banquet will be catered by "Larson Catering" from Elk Horn. To reserve your ticket in advance call Linda Sims (Anita) or Rhea Whetstone (Atlantic). Cost of tickets are $12.00. |

| 24nd Annual Whaletown Triathlon Saturday, August 4, 2007 www.whaletowntriathlon.com An annual event that is typically held the first Saturday in August, the Whaletown Triathlon starts at 8:00am sharp at the beach house in Lake Anita State Park. Plan on making a weekend of it, Anita's Annual Celebration is also held that day and the Firemen's Steak Fry and Dance is held that evening, with fireworks at Lake Anita at dusk. |

Whaletown is sanctioned by the USA TRIATHLON. USAT rules and regulations will be enforced, no drafting! All participants must be annual members or purchase a single event ticket. Whaletown is also a charter member of the Heart of America triathlon series. Series point totals will be tabulated to determine overall series winners at the end of the season. | The course: 1 K swim - the water temperature in Lake Anita is normally between 70 and 75 degrees in early August. The course is out and back, with buoys marking the entire route. Wetsuits are allowed. 40 K bike - rolling hills outside the park then south on Hwy 148 to turn-around and back again. Mostly good, quiet roads with water at the turn-around. Helmets required. 10 K run - the course circles Lake Anita on good asphalt roads. Rolling hills, about 1/4 mile on grass at halfway mark. Water every mile. Beautiful running in a gorgeous park! For lodging The Lake Anita State Park has a lovely campground and there is The Grand Motel in Anita. Lodging is also available in Atlantic (15 miles west) and Adair (8 miles east). | |

| Anita's Annual Celebration Saturday August 4, 2007 An annual event that is held the first Saturday in August, along with the Whaletown Triathlon and the Firemen's Steak Fry and Dance. We always have a great parade, good food, and fun. Past years have included Music in the Park, kids games and contests, food, ice cream and watermelon. |

| Anita Volunteer Fire Dept Steak Fry and Dance Saturday August 4, 2007 Band Shell Park, Main Street, Downtown Anita. An annual event that is held the first Saturday in August, along with the Whaletown Triathlon and the Anita's Annual Celebration. Serving starts at 4:30pm and the dance at 9:00pm. | A fun and safe Halloween party for the kids. Costume contests that are divided into age groups are held with trophies awarded to the winners. A soup and sandwich supper is served before the contest.
Soup and Sandwich supper from 5pm-7pm. There will be a charge of $1.00 per bowl of soup, and $1.00 per Hot Dog. Chili and Chicken Noodle soup will be served. Costume judging will be held starting at 7:30pm. There will be 13 divisions in the costume judging. | |

| Anita Chamber of Commerce Annual Winter Wonderland, Sunday, Dec 2, 2007 This annual event includes the Tour of Trees, Drawings, Street Luminaries, the Winter Wonderland Walk through downtown Anita, the American Legion Soup Supper, Hay Rides, Santa's Sweet Shoppe, and Santa comes to visit. NEW THIS YEAR: Our First Annual HOLIDAY HUSTLE 5K Run and 1.5 Mile Fun Walk! Entry Form & More Info Walk Through a Winter Wonderland in Anita Sunday, December 2, 2007 - Tentative Schedule Below, Please Check Back For Additional Info. Tour of Trees 4pm-7pm at Anita Community Center. Admission charge is a free will offering that will be donated to the Anita Food Pantry. Many beautiful Christmas Trees will be displayed, plus Santa’s, Angels, Dolls, Table Scapes and Nativity Scenes. There will also be a Gingerbread House contest. Santa will be at the Anita Community Center 5pm-7pm with treats for the kids. You may have your picture taken with Santa for $3 per picture. Walk Through A Winter Wonderland will be held on Anita’s Main St 5pm-6pm. Enjoy the great decorations to be seen, plus live window scenes and carolers. Soup Supper will be served by the Anita American Legion Post 210 and Auxiliary at the Legion Hall starting at 4pm until the soup runs out. Free will offering with all proceeds going to the Anita American Legion Scholarship Fund. Chestnut Street Luminaries will be held 5pm-8pm. The Anita FFA chapter and volunteers from the Anita Community Schools will be setting up with help from the City of Anita, Anita Municipal Utilities and the Anita Chamber of Commerce. Santa’s Sweet Shoppe sponsored by the Anita Women’s Literary Club will held at Anita City Hall 3pm-7pm. Come in and purchase some of their delicious homemade candies and cookies. Coffee and Cookies at Anita City Hall sponsored by The Colonial Manor in Anita, 4pm-7pm. Hay Rides will be given from 4pm-6pm starting at Bandshell Park in downtown Anita. Drawings sponsored by The Anita Chamber of Commerce will held at the Anita Community Center at 7pm. Kid’s drawing will include several items big and small for the youngsters. You need not be present to win. Sign up for the Drawings at the Tour of Trees at Anita Community Center 4pm-7pm.
